Trina Olson Joins Summit Cancer Centers as New Physician Liaison

Newly tapped physician liaison focuses on growing patient referrals for community oncology practice Summit Cancer Centers.

SPOKANE, Wash., Dec. 13, 2022Summit Cancer Centers (SCC), a partner practice of the American Oncology Network, LLC (AON), announced that Trina Olson has joined the team as the physician liaison.

Olson brings more than 16 years of experience in business development and referral-based management. She has served in various leadership positions at healthcare institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest such as Shriners Hospital for Children and MultiCare Health System, Inc.

“We are excited to welcome Trina to the Summit Cancer Centers team,” said Dr. Arvind Chaudhry, director of SCC and Board-certified medical oncologist. “The relationships we carry with other providers and our community are important to maintain. Having a physician liaison will help cultivate these relationships and coordinate educational meetings to increase patient census and streamline the continuity of care. A physician liaison will keep us connected to the community and drive awareness about who we are and what we do so that we can be a resource to those who need us.”

In her role as a physician liaison, Olson will assist SCC’s six clinics with driving new patient referrals. She additionally will focus on building relationships with local individuals and organizations to increase awareness of SCC and community oncology.

“I am honored to be a part of Summit Cancer Centers and the journey to increasing access to community oncology services,” said Olson. “I am passionate about community oncology and to join a team and organization that is dedicated to closing the cancer care gap and supporting community oncology practices provides a rewarding next step for me in my career.”

“To truly provide excellent patient care, relationships between Summit Cancer Centers and referring providers need to be established so that oncology care throughout the community can be elevated,” said AON Chief Growth and Relationship Officer Shelly Glenn. “Our physician liaisons act not only as practice representatives in these communities but as community oncology advocates. Local clinics, such as our partner practices, face an uphill battle against larger healthcare systems, even though many are equipped to provide the same level of care and access to critical treatments. Our physician liaisons help preserve local practices that offer high-quality care and keep healthcare accessible for millions of Americans.”

SCC has been a partner practice of AON since May of 2021. Through the partnership, SCC has access to a robust list of ancillary and healthcare support and services aimed at helping the physicians and care team focus solely on patient care.

“Trina’s passion for community oncology is evident, and her experience coupled with this passion will be of great value to the practice and those we serve,” said Chaudhry.
